[TUTORIAL] Linear Workflow in C4D the CORRECT way

August 11, 2010

So I’ve been seeing a lot of cats out there  lately rendering in linear workflow in Cinema 4D the WRONG way. It’s depressing because a lot of these cats are supposed to be clever ones. So here it is, the guide you waited all your life. Linear Workflow in Cinema 4D the CORRECT way!

Here’s a rendered picture of an apartment scene preset in Cinema 4D.

Gamma of this bad boy is set to 1.0

Now, this is how the foolish cats are doing this.

Loot at that! Preposterous! Ridiculous! So let us review what they did.

They enabled Colour Correction and set the gamma at 2.2. Haha how foolish of them. So what these cats did not know is that Colour Correction is a post effect(!). Meaning that it takes place after the final render. Again meaning that it just brightens up the picture losing all the detail.

So here’s the clever cat’s way.

Whoa! Look at that! Nice! No detail loss, no over exposure, nothing bad at all!

So let us review what we did. We went to Render Settings and set the Global Illumination gamma to 2.2. And boom! Nice results.

So I hope you enjoyed as much as me(not really!) this guide.

See you at the next NHX tutorial.

New 3d model coming…

April 7, 2010

I am making right now the 3d model of a TP-LINK WN422G wireless network USB adapter. This is a day’s work.

Should be done by Monday.

It looks a little unattractive right now but it should be good when I am done with the cap.

Audi A5 Started from Scratch x2

January 27, 2010

Oh well I got back to what I was doing, and I chose to start from scratch. Again.
This thing took me barely 2 days. So yeah it’s pretty cool. 😀

You can spot some mistakes at polygon topology right next to the door. But oh well I am gonna fix those anyway.

Working with Vue

January 27, 2010

I started working with the Vue 8 plug-in in Cinema4D. Not having any idea how it practically works and no real experience before I created these 3 images right here:

I really look forward to see a decent tutorial I just found, but I don’t seem to have time on my hands right now. The results seem beautiful only drawback is that render times are just huge. I mean huge huge. I will jump right into experimenting with Vue this week. I know there are mistakes in the pictures but as I said I haven’t got the time to experiment. I also am finishing my first face, which doesn’t look so good. You see polygon topology is my biggest concern right now, and I don’t seem to get it correctly. Anyway I am out.
